We envision an integrated trail system for the Key Peninsula that incorporates land easements with dedicated and separate trails for kayak, bicycle, hiker, equestrian, and other user groups.
Our mission is to design and construct these trails with the input of user groups and local landowners. We intend to secure land or easements in conjunction with these trails that conserve environmentally sensitive areas and optimize recreation access spaces. In our view, any new user group has the opportunity to contribute to further trail development, provided such development does not interfere with the prior work of existing user groups. We affirm the rights of landowners to have final say with regard to easements and their own property. To this end, we pledge to communicate current and pertinent information about legal liability, benefits and concerns to local landowners. We further promise to share progress about our trail development efforts with the general public. All trails will be designed to connect with trail systems in Pierce and other counties. In an attempt to optimize aesthetics, trails will be created as loops where possible.
